Statement from the Chief Prosecutor, David M. Crane

We call upon all states, particularly in West Africa, to consider the rule of law and honor their obligations as members of the international community to turn over all known war crimes indictees. In this region, they are Charles Taylor and Johnny Paul Koroma.

There can be no deals for these indictees that avoid them being brought to justice immediately. The people of Sierra Leone and West Africa, including the thousands of victims, demand that they have their day in court. Only through justice will there be true peace.
