The Prosecution concludes its case after calling 75 witnesses, three of them experts. One additional witness testified at the behest of the Defence.

First Accused Issa Sesay concludes his case.

Second Accused Morris Kallon concludes his case.

Third Accused Augustine Gbao concludes his case.

In all, 85 witnesses testified for the Defence. Fifty-nine, including former President Kabbah, were called by Sesay, 22 were called by Kallon, and eight were called by Gbao. Three witnesses were common to Sesay and Kallon, and one was common to Sesay and Gbao.

Closing arguments take place before the Trial Chamber.

25 February 2009
The Trial Chamber finds Sesay and Kallon guilty on 16 counts. Gbao is found guilty on 14 counts.

23 March 2009

Sentencing Judgment. Sesay is sentenced to 52 years, Kallon to 40 years and Gbao to 25 years.

The Appeals Chamber overturns Gbao's conviction on Count 2.  The Appeals Chamber upholds the sentences imposed by the Trial Chamber of 52 years for Issa H. Sesay (16 counts); 40 years for Morris Kallon (16 counts); and 25 years for Augustine Gbao (12 counts), with credit given for time served while in detention at the Special Court.

31 October 2009
Sesay, Kallon and Gbao are transferred to Mpanga Prison in Rwanda to serve their sentences.
